MLB.TV is offering a free preview from July 4 through Sunday. Anyone with an MLB.com account can watch every out-of-market game live or on demand at no cost. No credit card is needed. Some games are not part of this offer, such as Apple TV+ games on Friday, the Roku MLB Sunday Leadoff matchup and the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball broadcast.
With MLB.TV, users can stream games on supported devices for the full season. The platform also provides live access to MLB Network and Minor League action, along with MLB Big Inning, which features live highlights and plays as they happen.
This weekend’s free preview covers several key matchups.
Mets vs Yankees: The Mets face the Yankees for three games at Citi Field. The Yankees won during Rivalry Weekend in May, but the Mets now have home field.
Cardinals vs Cubs: After spending much of the season at the top of the NL Central, the Cubs meet the fast-charging Cardinals. This is their second series in just over a week, adding pressure for both clubs.
Astros vs Dodgers: This is a repeat of the 2017 World Series, though only Jose Altuve, Clayton Kershaw and Kiké Hernández remain with their original teams. Both clubs sit at the top of their divisions.
Giants vs Athletics: The rivalry is now called the I-80 Series, reflecting the A’s move to Sacramento. The Giants swept the last meeting, but the Athletics hold a narrow edge in the all-time regular season series at 76-75.
Cubs Hit Eight Home Runs to Set New Franchise Mark
The Cubs set a club record with eight home runs in their 11-3 victory over the Cardinals on Friday. Seiya Suzuki, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Michael Busch and Carson Kelly combined for six home runs off starter Miles Mikolas in the first three innings at Wrigley Field.
Busch and Crow-Armstrong each hit at least two home runs within the first three innings. That marks the first time two Cubs players achieved this in the same game so early. Home run pairs came from Suzuki and Crow-Armstrong in the first inning, then Busch and Kelly in the second, and then Swanson and Busch in the seventh.
These home runs marked the eighth, ninth, and tenth times the Cubs have hit back-to-back home runs this season. The last occurrence before Friday was on June 28 in Houston.
Friday’s eight home runs surpass the previous franchise record of seven, last set August 1, 2023, against the Reds.
With this performance, the Cubs now sit third in MLB for team home runs at 133. Only the Dodgers and Yankees have more.
